Home

After 11 weeks in Mozambique, we have been welcomed so sweetly by our friends and family. It is good to be back, but our hearts were a little sad to go as well. We weren't sad to leave the dirty and crowded little house, the ants, or the beans and rice. But, as expected, we miss the people, the culture, and the overall richness of our experience. I wasn't prepared for how emotional it would be to say our goodbyes to the baby house. Levi and I went together on the morning that we flew out of Mozambique and it was so hard knowing that we might never see them again.

Since being back, we have had some jetlag, and today was the first morning that we didn't have at least one child up and ready to go at 4:30am. Yikes! I have been going to bed at 8 almost every night...just so exhausted.

Zach is looking for jobs and he has some great leads so far.

In the meantime, we are enjoying sweet times with friends and family, reveling in the last of this season, while looking forward to the next all the same. And hopefully not driving my parents too crazy while staying with them :) My mom took me for a mani/pedi and it was like heaven. And my tan little feet needed the pedicure so badly.

In Mozambique we were told that we might have major issues with culture-shock upon returning to the U.S. I think we are handling things fine, but it might have been more difficult if we were going back to our same house, same responsibilities, etc. Right now we feel like we're here in Tulsa, visiting for Christmas or something. The weirdest things for me so far involve the bathroom. Has toilet paper always been this soft?? Are you sure it is okay to flush the toilet paper? Warm, running water is really nice, and we're loving eating a variety of foods too. The boys are doing well, and when saying goodbye they continue to say, "a te logo" ("see you later" in Portuguese) and "chow." We have a lot of good sermon notes and pictures of our adventure to help us remember all of the amazing things that happened while we were there.

We're happy to be back :)

Love,
Kate
