Remembering My Grandpa and Celebrating His Life and Legacy
He was the first man to ever hold me. I was his first grandchild. (The first of many!) And since my mom was young and unmarried, he was like a dad to me for the first year and a half of my life. I've been so blessed to have my "papa," Bill Sanders, to look up to my entire life. His boldness in evangelism and in challenging the status quo within the church, in persevering to the end, holding fast to deep joy and faith, despite a life characterized by hardship, disability (Parkinson disease) and pain, has spoken volumes to me and countless others. He was a pastor, fisherman (of fish and of men!), competitive athlete, and devoted family man. On Monday, March 14th, we said goodbye to the Patriarch of our family. He is in his new Home and is surely hearing the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." I love you Papa and I'm so glad you are not suffering anymore. No more sickness and No more pain. I look forward to throwing my arms around you there and to seeing you again, strong and healthy. You've always been my hero and I have been blessed to have you for my Grandpa. I miss you Papa--you mean the world to me.
Love,
Katie
