Zach and I had a great double date with our friends who are visiting from California tonight. I love that I have friends that I've known since I was a baby. I remember Hannah and I pretending to be animals in our laundry basket cages when we were 2 and 3. She has 5 brothers and I have 3 brothers, and so we decided at some point that we should be sisters. We don't see each other too often these days, but we are always able to pick up where we left off.
Tonight's dinner was really great. Lola's at the Bowery (downtown) never lets us down. We've been there a handful of times, and it is fantastic. In addition to absolutely delicious food, the atmosphere is great for a date. I have a hard time enjoying noisy, crowded, and clanging restaurants, no matter how impressive the food. Lola's is quiet and spacious and I'd definitely suggest it for a date place. Also, we grabbed desserts at Mod's (between 5th and 6th and Boston), and that was fun (and tasty) too. (Wednesday is $2.00 gelato night!) They have coffee and crepes of all sorts. We miss the mountains of Colorado for sure, but I must say...Tulsa has merit. There are a lot of great restaurants, parks, museums, and fun things to do here. I guess Friends had it right. Tulsa is indeed the "Paris of Oklahoma." :-)

Kate

Raw Milk
Yesterday, the kids and I finally went to the raw dairy (Swan Brothers) in Claremore. It is about 25 minutes from where we live. I don't don't why I was sort of expecting to see some cow milking, but I was thinking it would be more a "field trip" than it turned out to be. That is where the disappointment stops, though. The milk is so creamy and delicious and I feel really good about giving it to my kids...and myself :) I've got a batch of raw yogurt "incubating" now. The yogurt maker has been great. I lied and didn't post pictures of the first batch...because it just looks like yogurt. It is tart and yummy and the kids are gobbling it up. I've been adding half of a mashed banana and/or some pureed mango, along with some local honey...and it is so yummy. I haven't fully researched the benefits of raw milk, but I know it is healthy and am grateful to have access to it. I paid $15.00 for 4 gallons (cheap!) and put a couple of those in the freezer for next week. We'll be returning the the dairy for more fresh milk soon :)

Kate
