Happy Easter!
We had such a fun time celebrating Easter this year. We enjoyed playing with and talking about the "Resurrection Eggs" in the days leading up to Easter Sunday. Resurrection eggs are little plastic Easter eggs with symbols related to the Easter story inside. We'll ask the boys, "What does the donkey have to do with the Easter story?" and "What do those three coins have to do with Easter?" And then we listen with a mix of great pride (the good kind) and amusement as they describe with preschool words all that they know about Jesus dying on the cross. Some of the funnier moments included Max taking the miniature metal goblet, and saying, "I'm just drinking my blood." And Levi replying, "It's not blood, Jesus said it's a little like my blood." And when I said to Levi, "What do the praying hands have to do with Easter?", he replied, "It's about the woman who prayed for a baby." Hey, that's a good story too! And when I said, "What about the silver coins?", he said, "Pharoh was not listening to God and told the Roman soldiers where Jesus was." And then Max chimes in his gruff voice, "He was a bad friend!" And even though the "mistakes" are what I remember most, it was actually amazing how much of the story they understood. If you ask them why Jesus died on the cross, they'll tell you "To forgive the sins of the whole world."
