It's Whole Food's 30th birthday this month and I was there today and thought, "I should blog about buying spices here." Lately I have not been in the mood for pensive posts, but I find simple little tip posts just delightful. There are 5 reasons I buy my spices at Whole Foods.
1) They are super cheap. Today I purchased small baggies of Organic DIll weed (which smells heavenly, if you ask me), Organic parsley, and Organic chives, and I spent 73 cents.
2) If you want to cook well, it is best to use fresh spices. Spices should be replaced annually, for best results. I usually just buying a couple Tablespoons of something at a time. Or even teaspoon if it an obscure spice that I am using for just one recipe. I would so much rather spend a dime than $3.99 (or more.)
3) It's all organic.
4) Less clutter (and less waste). I keep my spices in a little plastic container. They aren't in alphabetical order or anything, but they are easy to find and there are not little bottles tipping over everywhere and there is no need for a big spice rack.
5) Every time you take your kids to Whole Foods, you can take them to the guest services desk and ask for a snack from the "kid's club basket." My kids love going shopping there, especially when the double-steering wheel cart is available :)
Thanks for reading!
Love, Kate
